Okay, I did my civic duty and voted. Long line at Portsmouth High School, and my wife Kay was working at the desk registering new voters. Now I have to throw my paltry possessions into my rucksack and head over to catch the bus down to Logan Airport; my flight’s leaving just after midnight. It’s about 15 hours to Hong Kong, a couple hours layover, and then on to Osaka. Depending on the outcome of the election, I might just stay there. I’ll open up a ramen stand, change my name to Benkai, and send for Kay. By day I’ll serve noodles, and in the evening I will meditate staring at a rock; my life will be simple but complete.
Here’s the actual Benkai. I think there’s a certain resemblence.
